Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actress. She also sings. In her early years, Sara was racially taunted by many people in America. After she participated in a school competition and received high praise for her singing, in ninth grade the young girl started to feel more confident. It not only boosted her confidence but altered the direction in which she went on to pursue her career. In 1992 she graduated with her degree from New York's Julliard School. In the year 23 she began her career making her first appearance on Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films featuring You've Got Mail. The biggest accomplishment of her career occurred when she played The Lady of The Lake on Spamalot's first Broadway production. Not only did she receive the Tony Award, but her performance was also highly praised by the critics. The following year, she appeared as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy on ABC her role was given greater recognition. As a well-known singer, she released her own single and an extended play. She has also been a vocal advocate for LGBT concerns.
