Zoe-perry

Perry was born in Chicago to the actors Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. One of her first TV appearances were Jackie Harris on ABC's sitcom Roseanne. Her mother portrayed the character. She was not allowed to start acting with her parents till an adulthood stage, because they were concerned about the stress it would create. Perry stated that she was timid to perform at the age of 16, but she began acting at Northwestern University as a way to meet new people after she transferred from Boston University. When she graduated, Perry went in New York to search for jobs on television, landing small parts in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent but homesickness brought Perry back home to California and she was able to find acting work. She and her mother starred on Broadway as a couple for the play The Other Place, in 2013. She appeared in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winner Anna Christie, along with Kevin McKidd. This was presented at West Los Angeles' Odyssey Theatre Ensemble. Perry appeared in nine episodes of the ABC thriller The Family in 2016. In 2017, she played an recurring role in the ABC Political thriller Scandal starring her father. She was also cast in the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon as a version younger Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mom. The role was given an audition to the actress, despite the fact that she is a relative to the role.
